They should have brought us another bottle or offered each one of us another glass to cover the next course.įinally, shortly after the wine spill occurred they asked if we wanted to see the kitchen. We were told to save our wine as we had two course to go across with what wine was left. Second, while they brought him another small glass of wine to replace the wine in the bottle that had spilled we lost most of our shard bottle and the small amount remaining was not enough to cover our next course. Doing it at the table was just nasty and embarrassing. to the table!!!! Ok, I get the idea to help get the spot out but, they should have just brought a towel and asked him to follow them to the restroom where he could have have to spot remove pad and water waiting for him in a place where he could have removed his shirt or been more comfortable dealing with the big wet red spot. First, the brought him a glass of soda water and a spot remover pad…. Now this happens but, the reaction was crazy. Well, the sommelier accidentally dropped the bottle when he was pouring our friends glass which resulted in a lot of red wine spilling on our friends shirt and the table. It’s fair to say service is very good and better than most restaurants however, remember the small pours we received from the little bottles of wine.

Quality would have been slightly better and pours per person would have been more and definitely cheaper. We would have been better off buying two separate bottles. This meant, each of us received very small pours. The used a 1/2 bottle format to pour for 3 people. The wines they served were low priced and low quality. We were a group of 4 with 3 of us adding on the wine pairing at a cost of and additional $300pp. All in all a wonderful evening! Moreįood was very good. The birthday cake complete with candle was one of the best variations on dacquoise we have tasted. The desserts befitted what a finale should be, varied, perfect in each little bowl, indulgent. We thought the quail was all right, albeit sausage-like in taste.

The wagyu was, as wagyu does, tender and melt in your mouth. The lamb was something akin to a discreet missive to moon about. They really rained enough truffles on the pasta.
#French laundry restaurant california mac
The truffled mac and cheese was worth the added charge. We can’t sing enough praises for the small bites (consider them teases to the climax) but a few mains merit mention. The OC focus on execution is evident in the food presentations and their delivery to the table. When it comes to diverse and perfectly executed food offerings and impeccable service, there is not a lot out there that measures up to The French Laundry. Maybe they did not put enough insulation to dampen the noise indoors? Coupled with that was the music that competed with various conversations. If it wasn’t such a hot day, we would have been happy to dine outdoors. We were fortunate to snag a reservation in time to celebrate two birthdays.
